Day Trip: Phu My Port - Vung Tau City - Phu My Port

Tourguide and driver will pick you up at Phu My Port, then drive one hour to Vung Tau City and start our sightseeing of the beach city and its vicinity to visit:

- Niet Ban Tinh Xa (Nirvana Meditation Retreat) and Thich Ca Phat Dai (a Budda Shrine) 

- French-built Light House 

- Whale Temple

- Giant Jesus Statue

- White Palace (Bach Dinh)

Return to Phu My Port in good time. Trip ends when the driver drops you off at the port for your cruise departure.

Niet Ban Tinh Xa Pagoda

Niet Ban Tinh Xa Pagoda (aka Nirvana Vihara) is a beautiful pagoda which features the harmony of Buddhist architecture. More commonly known as Nirvana Vihara or Reclining Buddha pagoda. The pagoda is built facing the ocean on the side of Nho Quan Mountain, Niet Ban Tinh Xa is regarded as the holy sanctuary of Buddhism. The monastery was established on a hill from 1968 to 1974 symbolizing an ancient lotus stupa. On the 2.6 m high altar, there is a huge 12 meter Nirvana Buddha statue.

Vung Tau Lighthouse

The lighthouse is located on the top of a small mountain (also called Tao Phung Mountain), in Ward 2, Vung Tau City. It’s about 170m high, the lighthouse has a circular tower, 18m high, covered with a delicate white paint. The place is surrounded by beautiful green canopy. Where attracting a lot of tourists.

Vung Tau Lighthouse is considered the oldest among 79 lighthouses in Vietnam. It is especially the symbol of Vung Tau City. France built this site in 1862 to signal and instruct ships to cross.

Whale Temple

The Thang Tam’s Holy Temple was built in the time of Minh Mang Dynasty to worship three men who contributed to the establishment of the first three villages in Vung Tau.

The Thang Tam Temple is one of the temples that not only has the most common features as other temples but also represents the unique characteristics of the local people.

Jesus Christ Statue

Jesus Christ Statue stand atop Small mountain, this statue overlooks the city from a clear vantage point, it is especially beautiful at sunrise. It’s not an easy hike to the top, there are exactly 847 steps to conquer, but in the end, you will be rewarded with sweeping views of the coast.

Originally started in 1972, but the construction was only completed in 1993. The adventurous travelers are welcome to climb up to the top of inside Christ arms and enjoy the breathtaking panoramic view of Vung Tau.

White Palace (Bach Dinh)

The White Palace (Bach Dinh) is located on the slop of Big Mountain. It was built as a retreat for French Governor of Indochina Paul Doumer at the beginning of the 20th century. Standing 50 meter above the sea level, White Palace has its French name which is La Villa Blanche. Once visiting the White Palace, you will be attracted by its all white appearance.

Built-in 1898, the White Palace was intended as a resort for the Governor of Indochina. The palace is now a museum, displaying rare ceramics from the Qing Dynasty,

Back Beach Vung Tau (Bai Sau)

Vung Tau’s back beach or called Bai Sau, is famous for its crystal clear blue water, golden sand, and unique landscape. The back beach is a lot cleaner than the city’s front beach, and it is where both tourists and locals come to for swimming. You get beach umbrellas and beach chairs for rent, as well as equipment for watersports. Vendors on the beach sell a variety of juices and Banh Khot, a local delicacy.

Choose to purchase port permit service: For a fee of 25USD/ person, our guide and transport can go inside the port, right to your cruise ship for pick-up and drop-off. This requires passport details such as full name, passport number, DOB, expiry date and nationality. We recommend this service for safety and comfort during hot or rainy days, as well a reliable transport service.

Choose not to purchase port service fee: Please walk out of the port for 15 minutes – 20 minutes or take a shuttle bus inside port gate (3 - 5US$/ person) where the guide and driver will welcome you with a sign and a smile. This does not include a fee.
